The Upstream Toolkit contains a number of engineering spreadsheets. By playing around with the input the user will get a better understanding of what leads to a result and how sensitive the result is to uncertainties in input parameters.
Limtations:
- There is no save button. You can not save and store your input parameters.
- The tool will time out. If it has been idle too long, it will need to be reloaded.
- Results from one tool need to be entered manually in other tools.
- There is no "print a report" option. Screen shots can be printed.
- Input and output are visible, calculations and formulas are not.
Comments and corrections are always welcome on the contacts page.
Target Audience
The tools are aimed at petroleum engineers who are familiar with industry jargon, common variables and the mish mash of units that are being used.
Scope
The tools cover engineering from the reservoir to the choke; from drilling to production. Not included are economics tools.
What is Next
Initially expansion will be focused on adding more tools. If there is demand for new functionality (use the blog) than this will be considered. There is no commercial model for this site, but if maintenance and expansion require this, it will be discussed on the blog.
